Can't beat the Davis Vantage Pro 2 Plus <https://amzn.to/2MTE8DV> (which
has the UV and Solar Radiation sensors). There's other sensors you can add
to it like leaf wetness and soil sensors if you wanted. It outputs a
weather packet every 2.5 seconds.

If you don't want to do the DIY route to get the outdoor unit's packet data
for cheap
<https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=34817.msg354894#msg354894> like I
did, then you'd need a Weather Link dongle of some sort. They have IP
dongles <https://amzn.to/2w9s7CY> or if you prefer there's also the USB
dongles <https://amzn.to/2Ph1UuO> - both work with weewx.

Using the data for a smart home all depends on how you want to use the
data. Once it's in weewx, you can install the MQTT extension and hook it
into almost every smart home software out there. Mine hooks into hass.io
using MQTT. MQTT also runs my weather website, so every time weewx receives
a new packet from the outdoor unit, it's instantly on the website (thanks
to weewx).
