In the 70's Mr. Henry Kajura Muganwa was a minister in government. He used
to send his children to school at Kabale Preparatory School (KPS) where I
also studied primary school. I recall they were bright kids: Sheila, the
late Jean Kajura...etc.

What happened later was that their father was reportedly caught in some
financial misappropriation scandal, and was jailed for that.

Idi Amin wasn't joking when it came to corruption. If caught, one was
punished. Even today's Second Deputy Premier Moses Ali who was also a
government Minister then, was once reportedly arrested for allegedly
pocketing state funds back then.

Meanwhile, there were daily prayers every evening at KPS, and the head
matron Miss Hayward, a British citizen, made sure that we all prayed for
Mr. Kajura's release.

So during the following holidays, I told my father about this. That prayers
were being said for Henry Kajura everyday.

I remember also telling him how Mr. Kajura's children were sad at school.

My father then ordered for Mr. Kajura's immediate release under the
prerogative of a presidential pardon. I speculate he felt the British were
going to make it political. Which of course could explain why Mr. Kajura is
where he is today. He probably claimed "I suffered under Amin".

I wonder what he would do to any corrupt official in OPM. Impunity?

But if anyone sees the First Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Henry Kajura
Muganwa, kindly inform him that it was the prayers of KPS that got him out
of jail that time.

I am sure that he isn't aware how his release came about. He probably was
just told one day that he was free. Yet I struggled for his liberation.

However this is the true story behind it: The prayers at school.

So if he can remember to at least donate something to Kabale Preparatory
School...???!!! The facility is in disrepair today and would surely
appreciate his help.

I also heard he wants to be elected Member of Parliament.

So if he made a bigger donation I could ask the school for some extra
prayers so that he is also decreed as MP for Hoima Municipality.
