I think that this might be fixed in cvs. At least, some exit status loss bug was
fixed after 1.8.2.
Max.
Hello,
I am sure I have found a bug in wget 1.8.2 and earlier.
Symptom: exit status is 0 when recursive ftp fails due to
failed login.
An ftp server may refuse login for temporary reasons, such as
maximum logins, too busy, etc.. I don't mean that wget will
detect such reasons, only that the us
Ok, I thought you wanted it to connect to a port different than the
default 80 (for http)... I tried the URL you supplied with wget-1.5.3,
and it complained about "Redirection to itself," but wget-1.8.2
managed to download the cgi output. AFAIK there is no option that can
force wget-1.5.3 to do it
Hi and thank you for your prompt reply.
However, my problem is that I do
"http://www.helios.de/cgi-bin/nph-trace.cgi?128.131.44.10"; and what it
does instead is
"http://www.helios.de:80/cgi-bin/nph-trace.cgi?128.131.44.10";.

Try "wget http://www.notport80.com:8080/pub/whatever.txt";. Wget 1.5.3
support it, so you don't need to upgrade.

Hi!
We have GNU Wget 1.5.3 installed. As far as I know, it connects to the
default 80 port. Is there a way to tell it not to insert the 80 port in
the url, or do I have to upgrade just for this.
Thank you in advance,
Maya Koifman.
