The rounding error is that 2.5em + 2.5em is not always the same as 5em so the

I found out how to resize text in IETester (it's hidden in a menu) and can
confirm how broken it is in IE 6 and 7. The following results in absurdly large
resizing steps:

So it's not easy to fix, that's fine then. It would still be nice to have
makeGlobalVariablesScript() wrap its output in if ( mediaWiki !== undefined )
for consistency, though.
