I added dir=auto in r106051 which fixes the gadget descriptions, currently
only in Chrome. It's not the best solution, but it's an improvement.

Indeed it is. We can do it MediaWiki-side (see bug 14649) and/or wait until
HTML5 is implemented in browsers, which will probably fix these kinds
