Hello!
I'll go ahead and claim this. I just pushed a patch for the second extension,
and am working on the third. I have a few questions. I'm not sure how to
convert the stuff in these lines to the new extension registration.

What translation is needed and why does it have to be done before the codes can
be added?
We do need most of ISO 639-3 (if nothing else, so that we can say what a
language is called in the language itself). There has to be a better solution
than doing requests one by

Clearly. 7000 codes or so are "missing", but we need to identify those for
which there is a sore need of translation.

I agree with @Halfak that many of the big XML dumps are very difficult to use,
and a single-line JSON format could be easily parallelized by users and would
be much more convenient to parse in modern languages. They should also be
compressed with bz2, not gz, as noted
