I'd be very interested in the status of this ticket too! I followed @sbisson's V8Js approach <https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/mediawiki/extensions/Flow/+/398523/> for implementing an isomorphic skin proof of concept. I was amazed at how easy it was and how little code it took! I think the benefits of being able to execute the same code both server and client side are difficult to overstate so it would be awesome to provide this functionality for interested skins and extensions.
