I just discovered a major problem with a wiki I occasionally visit. The details can be found here (http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/ outage-10-08.html), but I will give a short synopsis. The servers used by the wiki were operated by an ISP, but were housed in a building owned by another company. After a dispute between these two companies the building owner disconnected the servers and locked the building. The backup servers were located in the same building. The wiki administrator cannot now get access to the servers or the data (maybe permanently).
Not knowing about the actual arrangement of the WE wiki this story brings me to ask the following: -Who owns the servers - COL, a private company, government. -Who has access to those servers? -Are the backup servers physically separate from the main server and/ or are there offsite backups. Obviously, we need to prevent the above tragedy from occurring to WE.
