Hi there again,
just like last year, I think it would be great to have a short

Hello all,
with the contest going quite strong (over 15,2k pictures in total at
the moment) and our banners visible to hundreds of milions of people

Yes, I tried to answer some of the constructive questions there, but
refrained from participating in the less constructive discussions, as the
usual participants there seem to handle that just fine. Very interesting

Hi
The idea was to have a contest where users upload pictures of monuments with
a free license.
But some free licenses are better than others. What would happen if one of
the winners was a GFDL? Would it not mean that we would have to add the
whole GFDL text to the calendar and wherever we would
I'm reading your requests, but some countries have no info about
administrative subdivisions where are located monuments (Poland and
Ukraine). So, I can't generate and huge .kml, because it is not procesed in
Google Maps.

There is a link to create an account on the login screen, which goes to:

Unfortunately we do not yet have a mobile version of Commons, due to many

Hello,
I think the 1:80 ratio should be our high estimate a 1:50 the low estimate. For
US I would estimate 30k-50k. I think Germany, France, India and Spain also will
go up to around 30k+total number will probably end somewhere between 300 and
500k.
If you want 1 number estimates go with 1:65
I'll agree that any estimate at this point is bound to be off - but all
estimates are going to be off. I'll strongly disagree that we can't come
up with some reasonable estimate that's better than my wazoo estimate. And
I need some estimate. What would be perfect for me is a percentage

Lodewijk reported last year "more than 2000 uploads in day 1". So the ratio
would be 1:84!
In a paper made by WM-ES you can see a figure with uploads per day:

I'm trying to get a rough estimate of the number of uploads to expect
for WLM-US.
One way would be to look at last year's first day total uploads and
compare it to last years total uploads for the month (~169,000
overall). So if the ratio was 1:50, I'd just multiply the 1st day
uploads in the US b

Not really, he has only 2 hours available per day. I think he will not beat the
record of last year, although I dont remember who was the most active user.
Anyway, it is exciting to see how people gets involved, this compensates all
organizing efforts.
