Sorry, Harry. I have the book version printed in 2003 and the case in which you
are interested was not decided until 2008. I could not access a more recent
print until the library re-opens. Back to the other mailing list members…

I have it. Messaged you off-list.

Hi John
If there is an existing instance of MediaWiki, I would be happy to volunteer a
few hours to install the extensions you are missing, update to the latest
version, and make any other changes I think are within my abilities.
I’m not a professional techie but I’ve installed MediaWiki on sev
involved in developing a Wikimania bid? (I don't
follow WM governance very closely, and may misunderstand that aspect
of the Chapter's purpose.)

Precisely, and there is extensive precedent (including in court decisions
relating to allegedly inaccurate headlines) for article titles to be
generalising if the reality is explained in the body. If we wrote to them,
there probably wouldn't be a correction.

It's difficult to pass up an opportunity such as this, and I wonder
why there was no interest from the other bodies. What is the cost:
shipping only, or are they trying to make a sale?

To be clear, by "security" I presume the meaning was the identity of
Wikimedians. By attending these events, Damian can see and photograph
pseudonymous individuals. Not, really, that the specific wording matters one
jot.

Peter,
The additional issues with Buckner, who routinely tries to uncover the identity
of Wikipedians who are in high-profile roles, mean it is quite appropriate to
ban him from these events.
Nobody said he was a "security risk", but it is the case that he has caused
stress among many editors
sume separately from Lord
Lester's efforts), so this is far from a lost cause—and with the
ferocity of the libelreform.org campaign, I can't see it ever becoming
so.
Today is certainly a good time to be part of the free culture movement.

Shame about the date. I'm in London from the 10th, and doubt I can
move the start date forward at this late stage. Wish I'd have known
about this meet-up sooner!

Andrew: I don't see any reference to WMUK in that article. Did you meant to
say it referred to another germane topic, or am I simply being dense?

Moving in a direction that I would say is of benefit to Wikimedia and its
users.
