I've been testing some GUIs for Mac. So far the git-review support is usually what eliminates an app from consideration. No luck yet... -Greg Sent from my iPhone. Apologies for any typos. A more detailed response may be sent later. On Mar 8, 2012, at 12:09 PM, Raimond Spekking

Re: [Wikitech-l] Volunteers for Wikimania mobile app?

2012-06-02 Thread Mr. Gregory Varnum
The good news is that it looks like making the mobile app already means making the wiki more mobile, and specifically PhoneGap, compatible. Going beyond the wiki to a mobile specific site seems unlikely and uncharacteristically duplicative. This would be for multiple platforms, not just iOS, an

Obviously some developers do feel that it's worth discussing. Not sure that we need to stop them (Lord knows we discuss other topics to great lengths). However I invite you to sit this one out if you disagree. Just don't cut others off in the process. As a good steward of the wiki community I t

Is anyone from Freenode on this list or able to respond? I feel like they'd be open to the conversation and hearing general thoughts from a designated group even before we know what carrot we'll offer. If any requests are a non-starter then it may not matter if we can offer resources or not. I

I'll post more on the RFC, but I wonder if an entity within WMF would be more appropriate and realistic. Utilizing the existing operations structure would be far easier. Perhaps setup something like FDC to oversee priorities and funds. My hunch is WMF would be far more likely to sign off on some

I use and like this extension. I know many others do as well. This debate over its value to some and security is interesting (well - not really) but aside from the point of this thread. Should the widgets be housed on MW.org rather than an outside site? Given their wide usage and the preference

I think that's a valuable and valid discussion. I would also argue that adding the widgets as subpages to the widget extension isn't cluttering up the wiki much - it at all. I fail to see how that would have such a drastic impact on our use of the wiki. -Greg Sent from my iPhone.

I think the tool is great! Would it be possible to house on labs or toolserver? My only hesitation in linking to it is then we're dependent on Redwerks generosity in hosting. I think we should leave due credit to them and such in place. -Greg aka varnent Sent from my iPhone. Apo

I am likely going to reword so it's more "pre-Wikimania". It takes about 2-5 minutes a page if you've got the right pages open for copying and paste, etc. Assuming its not a painfully flawed page. :) It helps to have a working knowledge of MW - but nothing too advanced. We need to review code
