Are all of you sure whether it is right thing to include make depend

Yes, the last time I didn't run make depend, wine started, then silently exited.

Hi!
An new in the list, and need your help. I need make a executable statically

I don't think so. In any case it would be a big and inefficient binary, why on
earth do you want to do this?
Ivan,
What is dcom98 and where to get it ? What is the purpose ?
See http://www.winehq.com/hypermail/wine-users/2004/05/0048.html

Got any idea for me anyway, I can try to check patch by patch but it takes a

Use time with CST time zone, so you use the same time as the wine-cvs list

Is it just me, or is some one posing as julliard_at_winehq.org and

Any idea when the tests will be hosted by winehq?
Every build is only up to date for day, and once uploaded they stay on the sf
servers forever, I see this a a waste of sf resources. Maybe an alternative temp
location would be a good idea, until the tests are hosted on winehq.
Ivan.
Is it possible that the
recent file access changes have caused this case to be handelled
incorrectly, causing the file not to be found?
To find the patch that caused the regression, you can use CVS regression
testing. A howto is in the devel guide.

I asked project davied if they know what use of LGPL code involves, and if
the're using wine code, I got the following answer. The impression I have is

You don't need windows installed at all. You only need a windows license, the

Should we be performing the config file check inside wine at startup?
Already wine is a wrapper that starts wine-pthread or wine-kthread, and don't
forget about performance.
For this config check should we do something like:

if windows drive doesn't exist
Comments?
Add netscape and galeon to the script.
Ivan.
The installer program contains a few things that may or may not be
redistributable - for instance, it contains MSVCRT40.DLL and MFC40.DLL,
both of which are available for free from dll-files.com so it seemed to
make sense to include them.
You can't redistribute them, unless you have some sort of
MSVCRT40/MFC40 aren't components of windows though, they are
redistributable DLLs that come with apps.
They come with apps because the vendors of those apps have a license from M$ to

Well, I'm pretty sure that sort of
What about people who redistribute those apps in turn?
But they aren't using them in there own app, so they aren't creating a derivate

case you can't just take the dlls from an app, you must find one that allows you

I was chatting with Rudolf Kastl(che on #winehq) and he was mentioning the
things that he was doing for the rpm package. One of the patches he applies
to wine prior to packaging it is a patch that creates local user config files
if they don't exist.
His patches modify wine/libs/wine/config.c
If wine-c is stored uncompressed, it's easier for a site admin to modify
it for all its users.
True, but this shouldn't be necessary. Also any global configuration should be
done via winecfg.
Also, there are a couple places in Wine which are dependant on how the
underlying distribution is
Read documentation/PACKAGING, I had it added to CVS with most ideas already

The less modification to the install process the better.
If there was a single location the files could be

You can install the files anywhere, as long as the location isn't already used

There is a very simple solution: Don't run winetests.exe from the desktop, and
the desktop icons will stay intact, at least on win2k3. It would be a good idea
to put a warning in the readme and on the download page.
The easiest way is simply to convert the Gimp into a

That means that in order to use Photoshop

I don't get it. As far as I understand, so long as the code in the Wine

DMCA. If someone else takes Wine code and modifies it, that's where the
DMCA violation happens.
Right, I think a lot of people would be happy to host
but this brings fort the legal issues.
If the re-implemented driver only allows the user to play the game, and not to
make a perfect copy of the CD, there is no legal issue.
When you play
using an incorrect crack the game will slowly become unplayable.
Like this we can be sure that the reimplemented driver is perfect or a bit
buggy. Also, some people may prefer the idea of a open source safe disc driver
more that the idea of loading the proprietary one.
It gets the DLLs from an online server
You can't do this, it's a violation of intellectual property.
Hi lists,
Winesetuptk 0.7 is at the wine sourceforge page
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=6241
This new version contains an updated winedefault.reg, you don't need to run
regedit winedefault.reg any more, and it's updated to configurate all the
latest and greatest features
Hi list,
Nobody has reported anything to be broken, so if I don't get any feedback by
tomorrow, winesetuptk 0.7 will be released tomorrow (The 28th) on sourceforge
with no changes respect to rc2.
Ivan.
My ignorance may be obvious here, but is there any reason it is 5 meg?
(I don't remember the old one being that big.)
You can get a 700kb compressed binary at
www003.portalis.it/115/download/prerelease/winesetuptk0.7rc1.bz2
freedback is welcome.
The slackware packages on the sf.net site without the S9 postfix should
be built for the previous version of gcc.
I suppose you mean the old glibc. Anyway I can't see anything without S9 in the
name.
Hi list,
The rc1 of winesetuptk 0.7 is at
http://www003.portalis.it/115/download/prerelease/winesetuptk0.7rc1.tar.bz2
This version is up to date with wine current, there are a few interesting
changes, for example you can find the about box without reading the source, for
details see the changelog.
BTW, it would be interesting if one could check, try out what's Longhorn's
NTFS version numbers (i.e. if it changed or not). E.g. ntfsresize -i /device
would tell it.
Longhorn doesn't use NTFS, it uses a new filesystem called WinFS, even if it's
probably based on NTFS.
Wine can't load windows drivers. This may be possible in a very very far future,
but it would probably be easier to write native drivers. Probably by the time
wine can do such a thing, all hardware vendors will support linux anyway.
hell, if MS can get a patent on NTFS they can get a
patent on anything.
I do remember reading that the WTO decided that APIs aren't patentable.
Is it a patent for a hrdware solution, or for software? If software then in
Europe, at least in Germany and others, it wouldn't matter because
softwarepatents are not possible (and hopefully never will).
Software patents are illegal in all the EU, and it will stay like that thanks to

Anybody got ideas?
You have winealsa.drv in your lib path and artsd is stoped, right?
But what would that mean for the developers in the US? Just because the
sources are hosted in EU would still render them useless for US developers.
No, if you're in the US and publish something in the EU, you aren't violating
any US law, as you aren't publising anything in the US. If this isn't
Most normal people (Users) don't want to edit config files or use a shell.
That's why most people don't use linux. Winecfg isn't complete, winesetuptk will

all the time from people thanking me for putting winesetuptk
But the problem is that it is currently broken. So someone either fixes
it now, or we hide it until it's fixed or not needed anymore. I can't
see how is it any friendlier to users to download something that does
not work.
In what way doesn't it work?
