We just got a PowerRouter V3 from LinkTechs.net. Definitely recommend taking a
look at those. Not the cheapest thing out there but lots of ports and
horsepower.

I am not picky about my SFP's... lots of time pick them up on Ebay...
(Surplus).
If you like I have SM Fiber GBIC's. $20 each
if you need SFP's (normal LX)... I have those too... $ 20 each.
If you want full Media converter last ones I bought were from CTC

I'm in need of a connection in Wagoner Friday night for a football game to

Yes, when I priced them last year I didn't find any SM for < $350.
Got a brand you like? I am going to need another soon.

SM SFP's come in many versions..
most common / generic
Short Range (LX)
Medium Range (LH)
Long Range. (ZX)
(then you also have the Colorized versions.. and not counting the Single
Fiber SFP's. (Tx & Rx on a single fiber, rather than a pair).
For those interested in getting more info on thes
It seems to me that the price is pretty much the same when sm vs mm, just
goes up depending on the distance the sfp needs to go. For my application I
needed to get an 80km sm version And it was 245 from aaxeon.com

Today that is not the case... One can get good quality SM or Multi-Mode
Fiber Media converters (Gigabit) for $100 to $150.

Also depends on your commit. How was your CPU load looking with the RB493G?
If you're increasing bandwidth, And you were on the edge of needing a
faster router. Might as well do them at the same time.
Baltic Networks/RouterMaxx with SFP ports comes to mind as a nice step up.

I depends on what fiber they hand you. If it is Multi-Mode, you can get
sub $75.00 media converters and leave the 450 in place.
If it is Single Mode, you may as well get a router with SFP ports as to
get a media converter.

A whole bunch of them have SFPs now.
If it was my choice, I'd get x86.

I'm upgrading my data from the provider. It's fiber right now but hands off
from the provider as Ethernet. The new circuit is going to handoff as fiber.
Currently I'm using a RB493G router at my DEMARC, what Mikrotik router do you
all recommend to take a fiber handoff?
Thanks
