Not sure if the block should be curved like that. I would look at getting an equalizer plate if possible. If this is a rohn, check http://www.3starinc.com/rohn_tower_guy_and_anchor.html On 09/16/2013 01:32 PM, LaRoy McCann wrote: Can anyone identify this shackle? I think I have seen it

From the bend in the bolt, that is the right answer, I think. On 9/16/2013 2:36 PM, Cameron Crum wrote: Why not use a load spreader instead? On Mon, Sep 16, 2013 at 1:32 PM, LaRoy McCann w...@dtisp.com mailto:w...@dtisp.com wrote: Can anyone identify this shackle? I think I have

LaRoy, This is obviously the wrong part for the application. I personally would be more concerned about the depth and proper construction of the anchorage point. The correct way would have been a leg anchor with a dispersion plate at the end. The turnbuckles should have been eye bolt

I had never seen anything like this until this tower installation about 15 years ago. I thought the bolt was bent the first time I saw it but I really think they are made that way. The tower is 190' with 2 sets of guys, and inner and an outer set and all 6 shackles are this way. A couple of

It's not supposed to be curved, it has bent under load. It's not the right part for the application. You could use an equalizer plate or since you already have an anchor with space for 3 guy wires, just use a short piece of guy wire to connect each turnbuckle to the anchor. On Mon, Sep 16, 2013

I did not make myself clear about the guy wires. There are 6 total sets of guy wires on the tower. The bottom 3 sets are at around 50-70' from the tower and the top 3 sets of guy wires are at a much greater distance from the tower. I am with you about the way it should have been done vs the

Well... Two sets of guys wires is not correct either. This tower should have at least 4 levels of guy wire, not 2. Amazingly 25G is extremely resilient to falling. There are several videos on the web of guys dropping these towers and they continue to stand after all the guys are cut.
