3-dB Networks was formed in May of 2008 from the spin off the Value Add Reseller and consulting business of Mesa Networks. Mesa was founded in 2000 with the mission to provide high-speed Internet service in under-served markets by utilizing fixed wireless technologies. Mesa grew to become one of the largest Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISP) in the United States, operating a network of 130 towers and serving over 7,500 customers. In early 2004, Mesa began leveraging its experience to assist other service providers, government entities, and businesses in the design, implementation, and management of their broadband wireless networks. By 2007, this practice accounted for nearly 50% of Mesa's annual revenues. Mesa was recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the 150 fastest growing U.S. small businesses in 2007. In May of 2008, Mesa merged its ISP operations into that of JAB Broadband, which had already assimilated the majority of the neighboring WISP operators in Colorado and Utah. As part of the merger, Mesa spun off its VAR business so that it could be acquired by a group of Mesa's founders. Now 3d-B is even more focused on helping its customers design, build and maintain broadband wireless networks for WISP's, enterprise, and government networks.
