Sean,
Your layout sounds very much like mine does - 175 access points, all proxim, with a bluesocket box providing some security. We're always adding more access points, at this time we're staying with the proxim APs, (we need to really look into the ap4000s now, since the ap2000s have been end-of-lifed) and we invested in an airwave management solution.
The airwave management platform (AMP) is very straightforward. The web interface is really easy to use. It handles firmware updates, it makes sure my config changes stay, it collects dozens of statistics based on radio signal quality, user counts, etc. Best of all, it integrates with the bluesocket box here, so we can even tell exactly where users are, what point they're associated to, etc.
It was a great purchase for us. Feel free to send more questions back.

Hello, folks,
Wayne State University have deployed around 150 APs on campus. We 've now decided to roll out wireless all over the campus. This is our last chance to choose the right vendor and the right technology before it is too late. Since we only have experience on Proxim and Bluesocket, it would be extremely helpful if we could collect some information from you guys about other vendors such as Cisco and other technologies. We are interested in:
How many APs on your campus? Which vendor did you choose? Are you happy with it? What kind of security mechanism do you use? Are you happy with that? What kind of monitoring/managing software are you using? Are you happy with it?
Many Thanks!
