Along the WPA/WPA2 thread... we began our 802.1x deployment 1.5
years ago with WPA only for a number of reasons. This Tuesday we
added WPA2 running in mixed mode (Cisco WiSM system). Around 42% of
the devices began using WPA2 in preference to WPA (mostly Apple we
guess based on our testing). We expect higher percentages on WPA2 as
people return to campus and run the IdEngines installer which will
now prefs WPA2 (we're only at quarter load this summer). No reports
of problems so far.
Our hope is that pre-auth before roam and key caching introduced in
WPA2 will improve perceived reliability of the 802.1x network.
