I wanted to test the Ubiquiti on a larger scale but we ended up going with
the Extreme 3912 in-wall WAP. We are completely Enterasys so this made
sense. We are currently installing 700 of the units in the dorms. The
first 3 buildings we installed already had the data port at 5 foot from the
anced Traffic Management
• VLAN: 802.1Q
• Advanced QoS: Per-User Rate Limiting
• Guest Traffic Isolation: Supported
• WMM: Voice, Video, Best Effort, and Background
• Concurrent Clients: 250+

This is a good example of what I was thinking. When it comes to cost the
Mikrotik boxes are less than the 1 year maintenance cost of the enterprise
vendor. So in theory I could replace the entire population of Mikrotiks every
year and still not incur the initial $250k investment of the
but it has worked great.
I am looking for feedback like last time. Please feel free to cut hard and
deep if necessary. Security issues could be my biggest issues.
