The problem with WPA on Linux is that there isn't a method for passing WPA
keys down to the driver that is defined in the Linux wireless extensions.

Based on the log output from IAS, it looks like you are using a domain
name with your user name. This is okay with the outer identity field, but
IAS doesn't like having a domain name in the inner identity. I am fairly
sure this has to do with how the hashed passwords are stored on the IA
Check out ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net. It allows you to use the Windows drivers in linux. I've used it with the Broadcom card (Dell TrueMobile 1400) that came in my Dell laptop.
Also look at prism54.org. The have a driver for Prism54 based cards. I've used it

Which version of Xsupplicant are you using? You might try their 1.0pre
release to see if that fixes your problems.

Actually, a lot of the blame falls on the FCC. Open source drivers
cannot be easily produced for many of these
