Depending on the version of airmon-ng, you may have to run it 2-3 times because
network managers restart. This has been fixed in the git version of
aircrack-ng.

On Linux, at least part of the problem is that, when libpcap tries to turn
monitor mode on for the interface, a bunch of netlink messages get delivered,
causing Wireshark to rebuild the interface list -
