somewhere? If so, I could create a modified version that will (optionally)
replace the nmake build by the (more or less) equivalent cmake + msbuild
steps. That way we could test cmake windows builds as well.

Just use make VERBOSE=1. That's how I do my builds to be always verbose
although the default is non-verbose.
In case you are using another make system then I don't know how to achieve
that.
