As promised, WiX v3.6 released on Labor Day. You can download via:
http://wixtoolset.org/releases/v3.6/stable. Bob did a beautiful job with
the release notes there. You can read my wrap up of the release (which is
nowhere near as coherent as Bob's notes) here:

Thanks.

Dutil explicitly uses the Unicode functions. Haven't written code for 9x in
many years, not sure how much work it'd take to get things working back
there.

Nothing. The .NET installer and Windows know that 4.0 doesn't apply to
Windows 8.

Hi guys, is it possible to use WixNetfxExtension to detect .Net 4.5 explicitly,
I looked at the documentation at
http://wix.sourceforge.net/manual-wix3/wixnetfxextension.htm but can only find
references to .Net 4.0. I know that installing .Net 4.5 it replaces 4.0 in
place, I need to know if 4.5
I have a custom managed BA which may need to install Windows Installer 4.5 in
order to install SQL Express (which requires a re-boot).
I have managed to get the re-boot sequence working OK when 4.5 is installed,
& my installer re-starts OK - but it restarts from my first screen, meaning

That is what I will be trying to achieve, thanks for sharing that information.
Hopefully some day they will make it better handled as you mentioned.:)
