This is my first time on this list, so I am assuming I should reply to your email. Here is the code that establishes the association with files with "vts" suffix with the application executable. This allows the user to double-click on the file which opens the app.

I think this only happens if you indicate to delete registry tree. You can definitely file the bug but this is probably one of those bugs where it won't get fixed until someone actually needs the fix. So don't file the bug expecting it to be fixed by itself.
