Hi All We have a version independent prog id in a COM dll.
We used heat.exe to generate the COM registry keys. 1) Installed the version 3.5 MSI with the com registry keys generated using heat.exe. 2) Installed the version 4.0 MSI with the com registry keys generated using heat.exe, note that COM classids and progids are changed in this version. 3) Now, if uninstall the 4.0 MSI, the version independent prog id got removed. Why is this happening? is this a known issue? Any pointers would be helpful. Using regsvr32.exe also we are observing the same behavior. What are the best practices for using version independent prod ids? Thanks in advance.
