The Windows Installer supports this using "instance transforms". You can read
about them in the MSI SDK and see the InstanceTransform element in WiX.

Is anyone using WiX and VSDBCMD for database deployments and getting log
entries to write correctly? Running VSDBCMD via console gives info like:
Creating [dbo].[NewTableName]...
but this is what is written to the logfile:
