I had a similiar problem with a C++ custom action that needed to display a confirmation dialog. ::MessageBox() had the same issue, so I had to switch to using MsiProcessMessage from the Windows Installer API. This worked out fine for me, but in your case, I think you're stuck. MS puts a lot of

Hello, I'm developing an installer in WiX 2.0, it works well except for one thing ... I have a CustomAction which launches a configuration application after then installation has been finalized. On XP, this works fine, but on Vista the application window pops up under the installer UI window. I
