Following the SF Repository restructuring message from Bill (G4WJS), I have
updated both JTSDK-Win32 and JTSDK-Nix to accommodate the new layout. When
the WSJT trunk is fully relocated, that will trigger another round of
updates.

FYI
I have set save/None and I just checked my save folder. There are 265
files taking 93Mb size.
Oldest file was 2018-04-11 that is quite near the time I last manually
cleaned the folder.
I'm not "heavy user", so I think this amount is reasonable.

item is checked. So no prompt if files are gone.

I would agree it's not a "pressing" need.
But when's the last time we had a decoder crash like that? As opposed to all
the other WSJT-X crashes that leave files behind?
Maybe we check to see if any files are left and ask when that menu option is
enabled?
