This sounds like a textbook example of RFI getting into your computer or USB
cable. I had a similar issue on 80m and found that a few well-placed ferrites
on my USB cable fixed the issue.
Search for "FT8 RFI" for other folks advice.
To verify, try transmitting into a dummy load or at _v
If your use case is compatible with soapysdr, I’d suggest adding support for
that; it supports a lot of SDRs.
Are you also going to try to implement sdr audio? That’s a different kettle of
fish.

All,
I've been running WSJT-X 2.5.2 under OSX 10.13.6 and have noticed that the
up-pointing arrow for setting the TX freq is abnormally large.
It doesn't seem related to the size of the main window or whether or not it (or
the down arrow) has been clicked.
