Hi Simon,
It has been so long that I don't remember for certain why the Tomcat work
directory needed cleaning. I'm fairly sure there was a reason. A guess is
that Tag libraries destined to be in a jar wouldn't pickup changes when you
used Serve modules without publishing. Tomcat would cache
Thanks for addressing this. Sorry I overlooked that change for Tomcat 8. My
testing was focused on running Tomcat 8.
Cheers,
Larry

Hi Fred,
With respect to Tomcat-8 support, it is on my to-do list including creating a
BZ entry. The problem is I’m back to struggling to finding enough cycles to
get something finished and committed. I have done some initial work that needs
a little clean up before it is ready to commit.

Iván,
Please open a bugzilla report against the jst.server component of WTP Server
Tools (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/enter_bug.cgi?product=WTP%20ServerTools).
I'm in class today but will look at it when I get a chance.

Andy,
If you haven’t already opened a Bugzilla, see if Bug 217131[1] applies to your
situation. I've just added the workaround from a WTP newsgroup post [2] to
that bug.

Thanks Tim,
The issue should only occur when deploying a module to a Tomcat server that has
never been published. If you publish the server without any modules first, you
can avoid this issue.

With respect to issue #2, Tomcat uses commons.digester for processing various
XML files, including web.xml. Digester can handle namespaces if asked.
However, the Tomcat distributions have this feature turned off by default. You
can modify the Host element in the server.xml for the Tomcat
