it is an upfgrade and deleting perlbrew did not help
and no im not able to do a clean install its my main machine and has some
installations on it I rely upon dayly.
however i have a laptop which got a fresh install af an older ubuntu version.
will try things there tomorrow

Seems a bit of a strange problem.
The line:
Can't locate Wx/Media.pm, is clearly a MediaCtrl problem,
That said, it shouldn't crash.
- If the dependencies are *not* available, it should install without
MediaCtrl.
- If the Media.pm *is* there then it should also install no problem.
