Well, I do see any java related hint in the log. Is the session really crashing
or just disconnecting?
What's your version of nxagent on the server?

We are having problems with X2Go crashing whenever a java application launches.
The behavior we've seen this with are Matlab and Libre Office. The error log
for a session is below:
XSession-x2go: X session started for foo at Tue 06 Jul 2021 10:56:11 AM CDT
dbus-update-activation-environment: set

I'm having some issues using Matlab2018a in X2go. When using xfce4 (and KDE)

I have a user with a frozen x2go session. In the logs I get the following

I'm thinking this might be the problem, but does anyone have any experience

I can't speak for Robert's problem, which seems to be unrelated. In my case,
Emacs is the only program that crashes, tho
Does this happen with other Gtk apps? Are you running with an Nvidia card? I
had to install VirtualGL and run some application through a proxy to get them
to work.

I just upgraded Ubuntu from 14 to 16.04, and I really regret it now. Many
things now don't work within X2go. I've completely lost KDE, which I see is a
known issue, but for some reason now Firefox and many other applications don't
work. I even tried gnome-calculator and it doesn't work now, but
