I'm also using visual age in enterprise edition. What i have done is had
xalan, xerces and LotusXSL of the same version it works but if you works
with websphere like me later i have to drop a class inthe compat.jar file.
And it's ok..
Can you tell me more about your problem...

What problems are you having now? If you can use Xerces instead of
XML4J (which is just a wrapper around Xerces), then everything should
work right out of the box.
