Ray & Group,
Yes I have enabled gating in both areas, thanks.
I am running Xastir 1.9.2 on Ubuntu 7.1.0. Xastir was installed
from source, not a pre-compiled binary. I created a file in my
~/.xastir/data/ directory called nws-stations.txt and populated it

Mike,
Have you enabled RF>Internet & Internet>RF in BOTH Station/Configure

Xastir doesn't always get along with OpenMotif either.
Jim,
my first thought is that the Kam is in KISS mode. Now we need someone
who's Kam savvy to tell you how to tell minicom to get you out... And
then how to get back in. An alternative might be to fire off the KISS
script and see if it then talks to the Kam.

Do you think that it should be ASCII? I get nothing at 2400 or 9600 baud.
Does minicom set the parameters of the port permanently or only when

Fire up a copy of minicom and see if you can talk to the serial port as
a 'regular' user. If not, you can tell the serial port that you (as a
regular user) can access it... We can help with all the bad ways to do
that...
