I think it's only the voice output at the station end, for fun - not tx'd
data and (although I've not got CVS update to prove it). I expect its
something you turn-on rather than have to turn off.
Perhaps the CBers have APRS now? you could play on there if you want to do
that?

Have you got any results for this? - it maybe somethings sitting on it and
you can kill that process - at least to prove it works, then move onto
sorting out the problem with whatever is sitting on tyS0

I just tried it on my Ubuntu radio pc and here are the results.. (the blue

I don't want to confuse things - but would you try this to show if anything
is sitting on ttyS0 (it might be something you ran earlier.
From a terminal screen type this and enter..
sudo ps -aux | grep ttyS0
there should be a list - perhaps copy and paste that into a message

I downloaded it from work - I had to use my secret work-around for the web
filter as it got blocked for some inane-unexplained reason (a product called
Websense, AKA Webnonsense)
It was a slow download, but got there in the end - I've not had chance to
try it.. yet. I downloaded it at about

I didn't think packet radio was allowed on 160m for UK licence holders?
(sorry OT but possibly important)
Perhaps you should argue a frequency in the 5Mhz band would be a good use?
Though I guess it would take a change, but perhaps the RSGB might get behind
it?

I took a quick look at this today and found it produces snapshot.xpm - I had
a think and decided it might be nice to CRON a conversion from xpm to gif
and then cron the gif by ftp to a website regularly.
However, being at work I didn't get much time to make it work -
I tried making the
Thanks Tom
I'll see about updating it - but probably wont be able to. I just wonder why
cron isn't working -
when the command line is.
I've looked in the man pages for Imagemagick and cron and can't see where
I'm going wrong.
I'm running convert from the full path.

A bit of thinking..
This may belong in an APRS listserv but I was thinking how Xastir could be
expanded and noticed a Linux RFID project on Sourcefoge - This made me
wonder if we could localise situation data by linking up rfid devices to
aprs by some box that translated rfid data to aprs
I've had a quick look at the archive but haven't seen any reference to
OpenStreetMap - I wonder
if this could be incorporated into Xastir? - sorry if its a dumb question
but it seems something
that would benefit both Xastir and that project ..esp if Google maps isn't
playing ball.

I'm hoping to demo Xastir at our local Hamfest in September - I thought
about how to do it - the location of the hamfest is quite possibly the worst
radio location in this area (worse than mine and that's saying something
(for V/UHF) - so an RF feed maybe useless - I looked for an alternative..
I've got Xatir going on PCLinuxOS - the latest version but have a straneg
map problem - its the usual map nopt showing but I get the following in
terminal screen that I have run Xastir from..
I'm trying to run the geo map and XPM and WGET bothare installed ok.
