Under windows, I have used a program called serproxy and connected to it
with remserial from my linux box. This allows me to make use of an
unused serial port on my windows computer for my X-10 controller and
control it via my linux computer.

I suppose one could remote a weather station in a similar manner.
I also have Xastir running under cygwin and would like to connect it to the
same TNC...I was not able to compile remserial on my windows box, so I'm
searching for other potential solutions there.
While it doesn't give you the same fine "tnc" view, you could use the
Internet Server option on Cyg
