It turns out the multiple DB Access processes do not cause a problem with
Database access. But if you want to a fix for 2.8, the new xcatd is
attached.

I'm working on a government contract to support an HPC environment that uses
xCAT. I've spent over 7 1/2 months working with a document that really doesn't
say much more than how to get hardware support that was produced by the vendor
who did the initial installation. I've also used what I could
I have some Dell T-7600 servers to be used as stateless compute nodes. They're
reasonably well equipped - 8 core, 64GB memory. How do I need to configure the
IPMI or like interface to be able to boot them into a network-bootable image?
Sincerely,

This is a good start. It's a little bit old and does some things in a
different way than I would, but the overall information in it is great:

Unless I am misunderstanding the question, the IPMI interface itself has
little to do with if the node can PXE boot aside from making remote
management easier.
If, when you are booting the nodes into "runcmd=bmcsetup" it is failing,
then boot the node to shell (nodeset $node shell), login over
John,
On Dells for IPMI to work with xCAT they need to have a DRAC (Dell
Remote Access Card) installed. This allows xCAT to poll various
information from the hardware and control power. T76xx are workstations
and unless something changed do not have DRACs installed.

Russell,
Thank you. I have found this document and used it quite a bit so far. (I'm
converting RHEL6.4 to CENTOS6.5 in our cluster and it has helped me to
understand what was there and how to "do it right" to some extent.) It does
seem to be a bit dated, and doesn't seem to go into everything we
Thanks again, Russell.
I think I am probably missing some knowledge surrounding this. Is there a good
place to look to get this set up right?
Just now I was able to look at how the TFTPD configuration was set up for the
non-Dell node I'm testing with. Lets call it node002. The Dell node is nod

The xCAT wiki is the place to start I'd say.

Hello All,
I am trying to set up xCAT on the top of Infiniband environment. However, I
have following questions which are not clear by going through the
Documentation about the xCAT:
(1) What is the recommended topology for the management/service network?
(2) What are the limitations on the topol
I would argue that the Infiniband (IB) fabric is unrelated to xCAT.
xCAT handles the provisioning of the nodes. It will install the operating
system and any IB drivers.
However, the driver stack on any given node is completely irrelevant to:
1) The IB fabric topology.
2) The IB subne
