All xCAT commands linked to 'xcatDBcmds' (mkdef for example) read standard input in an of these 3 cases: 1. on linux and using a *ksh shell 2. term is not defined 3. stdin is a pipe To better illustrate (using the `if` conditional from xcatDBcmds:) [samveen@xcatmn1 scripts]$ set |egrep 'SHELL=|TE

[xcat-user] mkdef oddity with redirect versus pipes

2015-10-15 Thread Chris Samuel
Hi folks, I've noticed this for ages, but showing a new starter here about creating a new definition made me decide to flag this up as a puzzling oddity with mkdef. mkdef -z doesn't like input that is redirected from a file: [root@snowy-m tmp]# mkdef -z < rhel67_gpfs35027 Error: No object names

Let's not forget that Github has a recognizable cute cat logo, and any other cute cat logo will probably get overshadowed by it. (I'm not even going down the `hello kitty` route...) As for a rename to the Scalable CAT, how's this for a logo: http://ak-hdl.buzzfed.com/static/2014-08/12/16/enhanced/

I am thinking that a few flags will be standardized across commands. I've already done nodesensors with the following: -c: Lay things out in a reasonable CSV format. Similar to piping to xcsv (Why not just pipe to xcsv? Two things, one is that nodesensors will move units data to header instead
