There are some examples of setup for collecting mac addresses in the doc,
maybe it will help. The error may be because you do not have enough def

FYI, that works for almost all switches save for most cisco. Cisco you
have to use bridge-mib.
The biggest challenge is knowing which mac is which is a multi-mac
situation (e.g. if you have a shared bmc or virtual
thing to code around.

I think I understand that it is not going to work on HP nodes, either with
ipmi or hpilo (from xcat documentation on HP nodes.)
But now it doesn't work on Dell and IBM nodes either. We have xcat 2.8.4.
