interested in reducing the amount of memory the compiles library take up.

I'm still waiting on a maintainer's go-ahead on this. I'm not going to
do this work only to have it rejected later.

After browsing xml.apache.org website, and the MLs Archives, I did'nt find a
good answer to this question.
Does it (still) exists ?
If yes, is it still _alive_ ?
