Schema checking requires namespaces?

Hey All, I was writing an EntityResolver example for use with XML Schemas to see how it would work, and I discovered that in order to get xerces to check your schema you must also enable namespaces. Is there any reason I would want to set setDoSchema() to true but *not* want namespaces enabled?
