Ross,
Your reply caught my eye, and I am now looking at the pdfx package
documentation.
May I ask, if accessibility is a concern, why a-2b/-2u rather than -ua-1, which
seems directly targeted at this?
Many thanks,
K

Just as a codicil... I heard of pandoc only courtesy of this thread and have
tried it.
I write my university syllabi in highly modular XeLaTeX code with oodles of
packages and commands defined by me.
As the university has lately been making noises about verifying accessibility
and I don’t have
I think that historically what you say about print is true... but I produce
many many PDFs (syllabi, documentation, slide presentations) and for all
intents and purposes non of them go to print anymore; simpler and cheaper to
view on screen.
Still interested in the answer though!

Hello Vafa,
Yes indeed, I thought it was very kind of you to think of me, and I hope you
got my reply at that time. If not, you should know that your careful concern
was deeply appreciated.
I wish you the best in this venture. Pity I haven't got the savvy at this point
to help.
Happy to help
I am not able to compile this (missing package hevea, but as far as I know I
have a complete installation), but you could try removing the package xltxtra;
this reminds me of a problem I experienced recently.

Of course. And while the harvest might be greater (not necessarily great as
such), the workers are few….

Well… does it have to be either/or, anyhow? Taking Apostolos’ last point, why
not have a switch?
It makes sense to allow for cross-platform compatibility, but there’s no reason
to think that *nobody* would appreciate an improved algorithm….

I can answer part of this… It loads TTF just fine, as I’ve a font of my own
design that I’ve used with no problems. (Just retested now to be sure nothing
has changed.)
I don’t know about part two :)
