You have to use inline math, not a display equation, eg:

Hi,
I want to display verbal roots (e.g डुकृञ् करणे) within the sqrt
symbol in my xetex document. I tried \[\sqrt{डुकृञ् करणे}\] but the
resulting pdf doesn't print the unicode text. Can someone show me how
to fix this? The .tex file is attached.
