Hi there. I'm a new Linux user (The past two days) and I have encountered a
very bad problem.
My XF86Config-4 file has a monitor definition missing, which makes X crash
and not run at
bootup.
I've been trying to access the file in Emacs but when I try to type it says
the file is read
only.

Type su at a terminal, and then enter the root password for the
computer. Then type emacs /etc/X11/XF86Config and it should save
