I have one Samsung SyncMaster 712N LCD monitor serving four PC's. For the time being, let's just consider one of them, bearing in mind that on another one, running Win98SE, the monitor cheerfully displays at the maximum screen resolution (1280 by 1024) and 32 bits of color, but on this one, 1024 by
