Greetings all. I am trying to get X working on a compaq presario 2105. I'm using
debian 3.0, starting with a mini-iso then dselect. So far I have a twm looking result
that I could live with, except it freezes whenever I move/resize a window. I used
xf86cfg -textmode to do my config; had to t

The version of XFree86 that you are using doesn't recognize your
graphics card. That's why you end up with the vesa driver. The vesa
driver is unaccelerated and that may be what you are seeing
