OS is Redhat 9 residing on
secondary disk - XP is on
primary.. Booting from a CD goes to command
line.
As root, 'startx' doesn't work and creates attached
log.
Any help

security set too strict to allow using XFree86 (which needs to
be able to read and write hardware registers).

After customizing a kernel, I logged in as root.
But when I tried startx, I got a fatal error.
I am attaching the log file.
Where am I going wrong?

I can't read your log. It says it's some kind of application (binary).
Resend it in plain text format.
Or you could send your video card information, and your kernel .config
file.
