I look your XFree86.0.log. - XFree86 detected your mouse at device /dev/mouse. Please check your config if the mouse is still not operational, as by default XFree86 tries to autodetect the protocol.

Hi Shameem That kind of error message means that X can't talk to the font server it is expecting to find listening on port 7100. This either means you've not got an X font server (so shouldn't be trying to use it), or it's died. To restart if it is dead: # /etc/init.d/xfs start Hope this helps.
