Hey all,
I "think" I have a secure xmail server. I've tested it via some of the open relay
sites, and nothing has come back indicating it is open.
However, I can sit and watch the message.id index slowly grow (about 1 every 15 or so
secs). This server handles mail for several (11 domains),, b
I started my local nameserver up and now the connections seem to get
released.
Now when i stop my local name server and XMail connects the second
nameserver in resolve.conf (no matter if the one in my intranet or my ISP's)
the connections won't get released anymore.
When i set the SmartDNSHost it

This looks ok. It seems that the connection does not get released though.

As i said, my smartdnshost in server.tab is commented so i don't use it. My
XMail definitely uses my ISP's dns server as the 1000 open udp connections
show. Where from does it knows that when not from resolve.conf?
BTW, there are about 5 connections to an internal name server in my
intranet, which

xmail does NOT use your resolv.conf settings! you have to setup the smart
dns host in server.tab
i didn't set the smartDnsHost. I have a local dns server, but it was
actually down and it seems that the problems appeard just after its
shutdown.
The order in my resolv.conf is first my local and then of my isp.
Could this have to do something with the problem? I startet my local server
again now

mhm did you set the smart dns host in server.tab? the best is if you have a
local dns server and tell xmail to use that as smarthost.
