This subject has been on the list couple of times. This can only be done by
changing the source, because there is not real use of altering the banner
and Davide doesn't do things that don't matter.

OE has an option to delete messages from the server only when deleted from
the folder/trash. I've seen this give problems also, & when I set it to do
immediate deletes as the messages are downloaded the problem goes away.
