Thanks for the advice. This worked. However, I'm not sure why it is done this way. I can run "Xevious.bin", "Xevious.bin.gz" but NOT "Xevious.zip". Can someone try running a zipped game on MESS32 (the windows port) and see if you can specify the zipped filename and it works. If so, how do I go about filing a bug report for this so zipped filenames are valid?
